FABUM Honors the 60th Anniversary of Bossa Nova

Featuring the JGB Brazilian Jazz Collective

The JGB Brazilian Jazz Collective—spearheaded by drummer Julian Berkowitz— is a new project paying tribute to Brazil’s unique contributions to jazz music. The JGB Brazilian Jazz Collective is comprised of DC’s top Brazilian jazz artists, including bassist Leonardo Lucini, guitarist Dani Cortoza, saxophonist Michel Nirenberg, and vocalist Elin Kathleen Melgarejo.

Join the JGB Brazilian Jazz Collective for an evening celebrating the birth of bossa nova 60 years ago. From the music of Tom Jobim to Vinicius de Moraes, this program will highlight the golden age of the Brazilian songbook.

This is a wonderful time to honor Brazilian cutlure and history, as the nation mourns the loss of its national art museum. Out of ashes and challenge, cultural communities rise in stride with their histories - and with pride can share their unique means of expression, which can heal and revive.
